Due to Yoshida’s long wind-ups, you’ll be able to hit him with a fully charged finishing blow, dealing much more damage and occasionally knocking him down, opening him up for Heat attacks. Gunman attacks work well enough to tick away at his health, but the best damage opportunities come from Swordsman style’s finishing blows.

Luckily his slow attacks gives us a unique advantage that would not have worked against most other bosses so far. At about halfway health he’ll gain a yellow Heat aura, making some of his attacks stun, and if he hits with that he can follow up for a massive strike that can take a quarter of your health. This fight is especially dangerous because he swings in wide arcs and the room is pretty small, so dodging once is usually not enough to avoid damage. Be ready for a quick time event when you reach the stairs, then defeat the group at the top of the stairs to start a cutscene and your next boss fight.Īs the previous cutscene showed you, Yoshida is a beast of a man wielding a large club and it hits like a truck. As you’re defeating each group of enemies, enter the room they burst out of each time to make progress toward your target. If you’re able to knock an enemy down, the Brawler Heat attack while near their feet is capable of taking down multiple opponents if they’re close. These enemies are nothing special, so use your favored style and your supporting troop cards to mow them down. Once again, the building in question is surrounded by your fellow troops, but a cutscene will activate as you approach, signaling the start of another battle.ĭespite Hijikata’s orders to focus on your target, you’ll have to battle through swaths of grunts to progress. It’s north of your current position, and not too far so you’ll be there in no time. It seems you had the wrong place, so rush over to Ikedaya as soon as possible. You’ll find the building surrounded by Shinsengumi troops, so head for the entrance to kick things off with a cutscene.Īfter this point, the rest of the chapter will be a linear adventure, so make sure you’re ready to proceed. Shikokuya lies right by the Shijo Bridge, and you’ll see the pink marker on your map before you reach the bridge. When you’re all set, follow the road from the barracks directly east.

If you need some help preparing you can take missions with your squad if you’d like to level your fighting styles, and you can pick up some healing items at Don Quijote. He’s there with a few other captains, giving the order to head to your objective, an inn called Shikokuya. You’ll receive orders to head to the warehouse at the rear end of the grounds, so go meet with Hijikata. When you arrive, you’ll trigger a short cutscene, and you’ll have to hang around the grounds to avoid raising suspicions.Īs Ryoma mentions, it’s best to pass the time checking in with the other captains, so follow the marker to each one, starting with Nagakura. The next few segments will confine you to the barracks, and beyond that there will be areas of the city that are off limits except to progress the story, so this is the best time in this chapter to take care of any side activities you’ve been wanting to get to, then head to the barracks after. Continue your trip to the barracks afterward, following the pink marker if you need guidance. Arriving at the alley between Fushimi and Rakugai will trigger a cutscene with Matsubara and your old information broker, Crow. Afterward, make your way back to the Shinsengumi barracks. Head up to your room to initiate a conversation with him. Chapter 6 - The Ikedaya Incident Stopping the PlotĪfter a lengthy cutscene, return to Teradaya at your earliest convenience to meet with Nakaoka.
